PAKISTAN

The northwest of the Indian subcontinent, which now constitutes Pakistan, lies astride the historic invasion routes through the Khyber, Gumal, and Bolan passes from central Asia to the heartland of India, and for thousands of years invaders and adventurers swept down upon the settlements there. The Indus valley civilization , which flourished until c.1500 BC, was one of the region's earliest civilizations.

The British occupied Quetta in 1876 and again attempted to conquer the tribes people in the Second Afghan War (1878-80) but were still unsuccessful. With the creation of the North-West Frontier Province in 1901, the British shifted from a policy of conquest to one of containment.

Unlike previous settlers in India, the Muslim immigrants were not absorbed into Hindu society. Their ranks were augmented by the millions of Hindus who had been converted to Islam. There was cultural interchange between Hindu and Muslim, but no homogeneity emerged.

The idea of a Muslim nation, distinct from Hindu India, was introduced in 1930 by the poet Muhammad Iqbal and was ardently supported by a group of Indian Muslim students in England.

The Christian community is small but significant and there are both Muslim and Christian children who come from poor families who need help and education.

The team in the NWFP served the many Afghans who fled the war and became refugees. The contact is still maintained and has caused the work in Afghanistan to flourish.

Now they are developing a school in the Punjab.

WIN COMMUNITY FREE EDUCATION CENTRE was established since 2007. It is Primary level formal education based school with Bible study to Christian students and Islamic study to Muslim (as subjects) children because in Pakistan the law requires  every religion choose subject himself in formal education sector.

The idea is to  promote education in the poorest areas of society. Every needy child should havethe  right to get a good education. In this poor area they have no social welfare organizations which are provide facilities to the children.  Recently in this school children have  benefited and the numbers grow from 35 children up to our plan of 60.

Unwanted shares?

You can get rid of these charitably by donating them to ShareGift (registered charity 1052686), an independent charity which specialises in accepting small holdings of shares, particularly those which are not worth selling because that would cost more than they are worth. ShareGift distributes its funds to other UK charities and over 1,000 UK charities have already benefited, including World In Need.
